Kerala, the Cradle of Christianity in South Asia: Kerala, the God’s own country has been described as the cradle of Christianity in India by many authors. The history of ancient Syriac Christianity in India has been researched well only after its contact with the western church. The pre Portuguese history that is available in oral traditions, ancient manuscripts and documents and artefacts such as rock inscriptions, copper plates etc. shed light on the ancient traditions and culture of St Thomas Christians in India. Many authors have presented the history from different perspectives giving rise to conflicts of interests and prejudice.
